Get your cupping game face on
Cupping coffee is a an essential tool when developing your palate, comparing coffee and when doing quality control. Unfortunately when it comes to cupping coffee you are normally in one of two camps. The first cups coffee all the time, in a rigorous and often physically demanding part of their job. The other side normally only have access at special events when cupping is on offer. Sadly for me I fall into the second camp, so when I have the opportunity, I grab it with both hands. This opportunity was hosted by Elbow Room in Chatswood.
Andrew and David from Five Senses coffee were our guides for this cupping, and they did a great job. It is often hard to run this sort of event where the attendees have such a broad range of experience, but they managed to make it informative and fun for all.
But what about the coffee? There were 10 different coffees from different regions of Ethiopia, Colombia, Sumatra, Ecuador and Burundi. Below are the coffees we had in order.
